Chapter Five

A feral light shone from Zach’s brilliant yellow eyes, worse than last night after I scaled the tree. I froze, hand still pressed to the wounded other’s leg. The injured wolfman growled, struggling to sit, but blood loss made him weak.

“Get away from him, Ari! Mine, you mine.”

“What? Zach, I’m just giving a little first aid here. He’s not trying to hurt me.”

Zach snarled, “Mine! Ari mine. Others not touch! Not touch others!” That seemed to be the gist of it anyway. The anger and growl level twisted his words so I could barely understand him. All the hair on my neck stood up, and not in a good way.

“News flash, I belong to me.”

The other twisted to sit up but I was able to push him flat with a foot. I still had both hands keeping his lifeblood from pouring out of his body.

Zach snarled, body tight with tension. “Not pack, not touch Ari. Ari mine!”

“OK, Zach, calm down. Others are just pack you haven’t met yet. We help pack, right?”

Zach yanked me away from the other as he kicked him soundly in the side. “Mine!”

“Freaking possessive, domineering, jealous asshole!”

Oh God, hadn’t meant to say that out loud.

Zach snarled in my face. Rage twisted his features into an inhuman mask.

I was going to die. I took off running.

He tackled me to the ground but I twisted as we fell, landing us on our sides. All those martial arts classes kicked in. My feet jackknifed around him as I twisted and landed on top. A quick couple of boxes to his ears and I shoved off and ran. Hunting howls sounded behind me to be countered by Zach’s furious roar. “Mine!”

Oh God! Oh God! I ran for all I was worth. If I’d stopped to think, I would have known better -- or climbed a tree again.

“If you’d stopped to think, idiot, you’d have run when the fight started instead of hanging around,” Cecily scolded.

I didn’t get far before he tackled me again. I hit on my back, my head thumping against the ground hard enough to stun me.

His fangs filled my vision. “Mine! Ari mine!” His hands pinned my shoulders, his legs wrapped under my thighs, and he sat on my hips.

I couldn’t stop the tremble when his jaws closed around my throat. It took me a couple of ragged breaths to realize he wasn’t actually choking me or ripping my throat out.

He released my neck with a nip to my collarbone. He rubbed his face along mine. “Ari, no run, bad Ari want play others.” His growl twisted his speech.

“Wait! You really think I was going to have sex with that, that… thing?” I choked with rage now. “Get off me!” I struggled in vain.

He snarled in my ear. With a suddenness that left me stunned, he flipped me over. His bigger body covered mine, his belly to my back. He pressed hard against me. The ridge of his cock rode the crack of my ass.

I tried to get my knee under me to shove him off but only succeeded in giving his hand room to jack me.
